Boring Person Remover (“the app”) is published by Boring Cat. This policy explains what the app does with your data. We collect as little as possible and we do not sell your data.
Photos you edit
- When you tap Remove People, the photo and the area you selected are sent over an encrypted connection to our server and forwarded to our AI image-processing provider (kie.ai, which runs OpenAI and Google image models) only to produce the edited image.
- We do not keep your photos on our servers. The processing provider stores uploaded files and results temporarily and deletes them automatically after about three days.
- Auto Detect runs entirely on your device (Google ML Kit); photos are not uploaded for detection. ML Kit may send Google anonymous diagnostic information such as device model, OS and app version, and error codes.
- Photos are only saved to your gallery when you tap Save to Photos.
- If you use Report result, we store the reason you chose with the removal’s task identifier and a link to the result image so we can review it. The processing provider deletes that image after about three days.
Device identifier and credits
- To keep track of your free and paid removals, the app creates a pseudonymous identifier derived from a one-way hash of your device's app-specific ID. It does not reveal your identity and is not used for advertising.
- Our server stores this identifier together with your remaining removals, purchase records and redeemed codes, and a hashed form of your IP address with a daily counter to prevent abuse of free removals.
Purchases
Subscriptions and credit packs are processed by Google Play or the App Store. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases; RevenueCat receives the pseudonymous identifier and purchase receipts, never your payment details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no ads, no advertising IDs, no location, no contacts.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs, and we never share your data with third parties for their own purposes.
Bug reports
If you choose Report a bug, your email app opens a message to us that includes the app version, Android/iOS version and device model. Nothing is sent unless you send the email.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Retention and deletion
Credit and purchase records are kept while you use the app. To have them deleted, follow the steps on our data deletion page; we delete them within 30 days.
