Stadium Decibel Meter · com.kaptanoglu.stadium.decibel · last updated 10 October 2026
No audio ever leaves your phone. The app does not record, store or upload sound. It measures how loud the room is and sends only numbers. There is no account, no sign-up, no advertising and no third-party analytics.
The app is published by Boring Cat (Ali Kaptanoğlu). For any question about this policy or about your data, write to ongorunet@gmail.com.
The app needs microphone access to work: it reads the audio signal, calculates its loudness in decibels, and throws the signal away. The audio stream is processed in memory, in 100 millisecond windows, and is never written to storage or sent anywhere. Only the resulting decibel values (peak, sustained and average) leave the device.
The microphone is opened only while the meter is on screen and is closed as soon as the app goes to the background.
Location is optional. If you allow it, the app uses your coordinates for two things:
When you submit an attempt, the coordinates and the reported GPS accuracy are sent with it and stored alongside that attempt. If you do not grant location access, you can still measure and still submit — the attempt is simply marked unverified.
The anonymous identifier is a random value. It is not your advertising ID, not your Android ID and not tied to your Google account. It exists so that the leaderboard can keep one best result per person. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it discards that identifier; a new one is generated on the next run and your old entries can no longer be linked to you.
Leaderboard entries are public inside the app: the nickname, the decibel value, the stadium, the country and whether the reading was verified at the venue. Your exact coordinates are never shown to other users — only the distance check result (verified or not).
Submitted attempts are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database operated by us and served by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare processes the request as our infrastructure provider and may log technical request data such as IP address for abuse prevention, in line with its own policy. We keep attempts for as long as the leaderboards exist.
AD_ID permission. The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Anyone can use it, but nothing in it is aimed at children.
Uninstalling the app removes everything held on your device, including the anonymous identifier. To have your submitted attempts removed from the leaderboards, email ongorunet@gmail.com from any address with your nickname and roughly when you played; we will delete the matching entries. You can also request deletion without reinstalling the app.
A phone microphone is not a Class 1 sound level meter. The readings are an estimate for fans, not an official measurement, and they are not recognised by Guinness World Records.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will also be described in the app’s release notes.
