What stays on your device

Senkron stores three things locally, using Android's standard app preferences:

• The name you are shown under during a party (you can change it any time)
• A random device identifier, generated on first launch, so a host recognises the same device when it reconnects
• Your manual delay adjustment, in milliseconds

None of this leaves your device except as described below, and all of it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

What is shared during a party

A party runs entirely over your local Wi-Fi network. Devices talk to each other directly; no traffic passes through any server of ours. While you are in a party, the other devices in that same party can see:

• Your display name and your device's local network address
• The title and artist of the track the host selected
• The audio file itself, transferred from the host to the listeners over the local network
• Chat messages and emoji reactions you send
• Playback timing measurements used to keep everyone in sync

This information exists only for the duration of the party. Chat messages are kept in memory while the party is running and are gone when it ends. Because everything travels inside your own Wi-Fi network, transfers are not encrypted in transit — treat a party the same way you would treat a shared speaker in the room.

Music files

When a host picks a track, Android's system file picker is used; Senkron never browses your music library on its own and does not request storage permission. The selected file is copied into the app's cache so it can be served to the listeners in the party, and listeners keep a temporary copy so playback stays in sync. These copies live in the app cache and are removed when you clear the app's cache or uninstall it.

Permissions and why they exist

• Network / Wi-Fi state — to find parties on the local network and to share the track with them
• Notifications — to show the playback notification so you can control the music while the screen is off
• Foreground service & wake lock — to keep playback in sync when the app is in the background

Children

Senkron is not directed at children under 13. Parties include a chat, so listeners write their own messages. Three controls exist for that:

• The host can remove any participant from the party at any time; the removed device cannot rejoin that party
• Anyone can mute a participant — long-press a message and choose Mute this person. Muting is local to your device, it is not announced to anyone, and it is remembered for future parties
• Anyone can report a message to the developer — long-press a message and choose Report message. This opens an email draft containing the reported message and the sender's party display name; nothing is sent automatically
