Portable WiFi — Mobile Hotspot · Last updated: 31 August 2026

Short version: Portable WiFi has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. It does not collect, transmit or sell your personal data. Everything the app measures stays on your device.

What the app stores

Only your own settings, kept locally on your device and removed when you uninstall the app:

Session information — how long the hotspot has been on, how much data it has carried, and which devices are connected — is held in memory while the app runs and is not written to a server.

Permissions and why they are needed

InternetRuns the speed test. The app has no backend of its own.
Wi-Fi state
Network state
Reads whether the hotspot is on, finds the hotspot network interface and counts its traffic.
Change Wi-Fi /
network state
Attempts to switch the hotspot on or off where the platform still allows it.
Modify system settingsNeeded on older Android versions to control tethering directly.
Location
(fine / coarse)
Android requires a location permission to read the name (SSID) of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to, which is shown on the home screen. Your geographic location is never requested, stored or transmitted.
Nearby Wi-Fi devicesAndroid 13+ replacement for the location requirement above. Declared with neverForLocation.
Foreground serviceKeeps the session monitor alive so your timer and limits still work when the app is in the background.
NotificationsShows the ongoing hotspot session notification.

Third-party services

The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking libraries. One external service is used:

Bug reports

If you use “Report a bug” in the side menu, the app opens your email application with a message pre-filled with the app version, package name, Android version and device model. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can edit or delete any of it first. No logs, identifiers, account information or location are attached.

Connected devices

To list devices on your hotspot, the app reads the system ARP table on your own phone. The MAC and IP addresses it finds are shown to you and kept in memory only; they are never uploaded. On Android 10 and newer this table is often restricted, in which case the list stays empty.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date above.
