Dose-1 stores your tracking data on your phone. There is no account, no sign-up and no analytics, and your doses, weights, symptoms and goals never leave the device.
One feature is the exception: the meal scanner. When you choose to analyse a meal photo, that photo — and nothing else — is sent to our scan service and on to our model provider so the calories can be estimated. It is described in full below, and the rest of the app works with no network at all.
What Dose-1 stores, and where
All of the following is written to your device's private app storage and never uploaded anywhere by us:
- Your profile: name, height, birth year, sex (optional), start and goal weight, units
- Your medication plan: medication, dose, frequency, day and time
- Doses you log, including injection site and notes
- Weight entries, body measurements and progress photos
- Meals, water and activity you log
- Side effects you log, with severity and notes
- Your daily goals and reminder settings
Uninstalling the app removes this data. You can also delete all of it at any time from Settings → Delete all data, or export a copy as JSON from Settings → Export data.
Meal photo analysis
Dose-1 can estimate the nutrition of a meal from a photo. This only happens when you take or pick a photo and ask for it to be analysed. It is never automatic and no other photo on your device is read.
Where that one photo goes
- Your phone sends the photo to the Dose-1 scan service, which we run on Cloudflare Workers.
- That service forwards the photo to kie.ai, the API provider we buy model access from.
- kie.ai passes it to the vision model that produces the estimate (currently a Google Gemini model).
- The estimate — a name and the calorie and macro numbers — comes back and is stored on your device with the meal.
What is and is not sent
- Sent: the single photo you chose, and a random installation identifier used only to rate-limit the service.
- Not sent: your name, email, doses, weight, measurements, symptoms, goals or any other tracked data. None of it is included in the request.
- Our scan service does not store the photo. It passes it through and returns the numbers.
- The installation identifier is a random value created on your device. It is not your advertising ID, phone number or account, and it cannot be traced back to you. Reinstalling the app creates a new one.
Retention at the provider
kie.ai states that generated media is deleted after 14 days and request log records (text and metadata) after two months. Their handling is governed by their own policies. If you would rather no photo ever leaves your phone, simply do not use the scanner — every other feature works entirely offline, and meals can always be added by search or by hand.
Health Connect (optional, off by default)
If you turn on Health Connect in Settings and grant permission, Dose-1 reads your steps, workout minutes and weight so it can show them next to your treatment, and writes weights you log in Dose-1 back to Health Connect. This exchange happens entirely on your device, between Dose-1 and Health Connect. Nothing is transmitted off the phone, and you can revoke the permission at any time in Android settings.
Camera and photos
Camera access is used only when you open the scanner or take a progress photo. Photo library access is used only when you pick an image yourself. Images stay on your device unless you explicitly analyse a meal photo, as described above.
Notifications and alarms
Dose-1 schedules local reminders on your device for your dose, an optional water reminder and an optional weekly weigh-in. These are generated on the phone. No push service is used and nothing is sent to us.
What we do not do
- No accounts, no sign-up, no login
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising SDKs
- No selling or sharing of personal or health data — there is nothing to sell, because we never receive it
- No tracking across apps or websites
Children
Dose-1 is intended for adults managing their own GLP-1 treatment and is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights over your data
Because your data never reaches us, you exercise your rights directly on the device: export it as JSON, or delete all of it, both from Settings. If you have a question we can still help with, write to us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
