Boring Notepad — Privacy Policy

Gizlilik Politikası · com.kaptanoglu.notepad
This app collects no data at all

Boring Notepad is an offline notepad. It has no internet access, requests no Android permissions, and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code of any kind. Nothing you write ever leaves your device through the app.

Information we collect

None. We do not collect, transmit, sell, share or store any personal information. There is no account, no sign-up, no email address, no telemetry and no crash reporting. We cannot see your notes — we have no server that could receive them.

How your data is stored

  • Every note and every attached image is encrypted on your device with AES‑256/GCM before it is written to storage.
  • If you turn the optional app lock on, the encryption key is derived from your password using PBKDF2‑HMAC‑SHA256 (120,000 iterations) and is held in memory only. It is never written to disk.
  • If the app lock is off, the key is a random key protected by the Android Keystore, so your notes are still encrypted at rest.
  • All data lives in the app's private storage. Android cloud backup and device transfer are explicitly disabled for this app, so your notes are not copied off the device automatically.

There is no password recovery. If you enable the app lock and forget your password, your notes cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else.

Permissions

The app declares zero Android permissions — not even internet access. When you attach an image or create a backup, Android's own system picker hands the app just that one file you chose. The app never browses your gallery or storage on its own.

Backups you create

The backup feature writes a single .bak file to a location you pick, encrypted with a password you choose. Once that file is saved, it is under your control: if you place it in a cloud folder or send it to someone, that is your action, governed by that service's privacy policy — not by this app.

Third parties

The app uses no third‑party services, SDKs or APIs that receive data. It bundles only offline Android libraries (AndroidX, Material Components, Room and the Android Keystore's encryption library), none of which transmit anything.

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since it collects no data at all, there is nothing to delete.

Deleting your data

Your data never leaves your device, so there is no server-side data to request the deletion of. Deleting a note removes it from the device; uninstalling the app removes all of its notes, images and settings permanently.
